The Byrd Polar and Climate Research Center is pleased to announce Amy Leventer, Orville Whitnall Professor of geology, as the 2018 winner of the Goldthwait Polar Medal in recognition of her distinguished record of scholarship and service in polar science.

With a litany of thanks for the supporters, architects, designers, engineers, and staff who made it all possible, ÌÇÐÄvlog¹ÙÍø officially dedicated Benton Hall during a ceremony on September 28. The building was named after lead donor and alumnus Dan Benton '80.

Daniel B. Hurwitz ’86, P’17,’20, current Chair of the ÌÇÐÄvlog¹ÙÍø Board of Trustees, has announced that he will step down from his chairmanship, effective May 4, 2019, in response to increased professional obligations.

ÌÇÐÄvlog¹ÙÍø has named Paul B. Mischler, currently deputy chief advancement officer at the University of Pennsylvania’s Penn Medicine, as vice president for advancement at ÌÇÐÄvlog¹ÙÍø. He will take up his new post on November 5.

Tara Bubble, deputy director of undergraduate admissions at Cornell University, has been named dean of admission at ÌÇÐÄvlog¹ÙÍø. She will take up her new post on October 15.

ÌÇÐÄvlog¹ÙÍø students will now have the opportunity to apply for special 10-week paid summer internships with major companies located in Germany, thanks to the university’s new membership in the German American Exchange (GAE).
