I join with the presidents of Hamilton College, Hobart and William Smith Colleges, St. Lawrence University, Skidmore College, and Union College in a statement regarding today’s verdict.

Today I am the person charged to speak to harms that can go unrecognized, to identify threats to the wellbeing of our community that require understanding and care.

The Task Force on Reopening ÌÇÐÄvlog¹ÙÍø and the Health Analytics Team have recommended a return to modified Gate 1 restrictions. We will reevaluate our Gate status on Monday, April 19.

With just four weeks left in this academic year, I write with updates on ÌÇÐÄvlog¹ÙÍø’s efforts to finish strong.

As was announced in yesterday’s Faculty Meeting, Provost and Dean of the Faculty Tracey Hucks will be taking a sabbatical during the 2021–22 academic year to complete several significant research projects in Africana Studies, Religious Studies, Caribbean Studies, diaspora theory, and transatlantic and transnational studies.

We write with an update on the University’s opening and operational plans for the 2021–22 academic year. 

This afternoon, ÌÇÐÄvlog¹ÙÍø moved to Gate 4, based on recommendations from the Health Analytics team, following a careful review of available data. I want to take this opportunity to update you on the details of our new Gate status and other information from campus.

ÌÇÐÄvlog¹ÙÍø stands firmly against acts of anti-Asian violence and the sentiments that motivate them.

As of today, ÌÇÐÄvlog¹ÙÍø’s Health Analytics Team Dashboard shows no active cases of COVID-19 among the student body and one active employee case. Tests conducted last week of 50% of the on-campus population show no new infections. This is great news.

Multiple reports of large gatherings over the past few days are cause for concern, as unsanctioned gatherings and lax adherence to guidelines regarding face coverings and physical distancing can lead to serious public-health consequences for our community.
